IT CBT Training Benefits

Friday, July 25th, 2008

There are several benefits to using computer based training for your IT training. CBT training can act as a reliable way to train your employees without extensive and time consuming traditional classes. They can also act as a way to provide specialized instruction to people who just want a bit of information about one small slice of the IT spectrum.

The first big benefit is that it offers specialized training for people who want it. The simple truth is that many students just don’t take well to a traditional book-based course. This used to mean that they’d have to struggle through a series of self-taught lessons that only cause frustration and wasted hours. Now they can rely on a CBT option to get the same lesson with a better format. Using the CBT or IT online training will let them see the results of their actions and experiment with the lessons learned in a realistic scenario. There are few better methods of instruction than an interactive approach.

The other reason you should look towards a CBT option is the obvious benefits for specialization. CBT programs can be very specific and grant trainees with information about the one field they’ll manage. A CBT is built around interactive learning for specific applications, which means that it is perfect for a pickup class.

Teens in Boarding Schools

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

Why would anyone want to go to a boarding school when they expect to be taken away from home and spend most of their lives amongst their fellow students and some teachers? Parents who want to give their children a taste of what real life is outside of their ‘nests’, should consider enlisting their children to such schools. Giving them this whole, new level of learning would better make them prepared not only for college life but also their own lives when they finally set out on their own.

Boarding schools are not only meant to teach students but also to provide them with shelter and food for the duration of the term. Since these schools are mainly there for discipline in all aspects, teenagers would greatly benefit from them. A teen boarding school would help mold teenagers to become better individuals. Most people have a wrong connotation of this term as a place for troubled youth. Although this could be the case sometimes, teen boarding schools could also be a place mainly for education and further training.

For some problematic youth, there are also schools that are set up to meet their exact needs. These institutions are called boarding school for troubled youth. Such schools have psychological treatments and therapies that are prepared to meet special youth’s needs. It is also their aim that once the delinquent kids get out of their institutions, they have finally become better individuals and are ready to go out into the world and be a part of it once more.

Should battery’s get refrigerated??? so they last longer?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Yep! Your spare batteries will generally last longer if you keep them refrigerated. Another helpful hint is to keep them individually wrapped in tin foil while they’re just sittin’ in the refrigerator!

But you should also know that it depends what kind of battery you’re talking about.
- For alkaline batteries (the most common household battery), storing them in the refrigerator will extend their life by less than 5%, but if you store them at room temperature, they retain 90% of their power on their own anyways. Since you can’t use cold batteries right away (you have to let them cool), if you need your batteries for a flashlight in an emergency, storing alkaline batteries in a refrigerator may be impractical since 5% is so small…
- For NiMH and Nicad batteries, refrigerating them is much more useful. When storing NiMH and Nicad batteries at room temp, they lose their charge after just a few days, but when refrigerated, they retain 90% of their charge!

Kodak says “refrigeration is not necessary, nor is it recommended” and “freezing is not recommended” for its alkaline batteries. Duracell advises: “Do not refrigerate Duracell (alkaline) batteries. This will not make them last longer.” Both recommend storing batteries in a cool, dry place.

—–

It is recommended to avoid heat, as this can make batteries self-discharge, but making them cold does nothing. The recommendations are to store at normal room temperature in a cool, dry location. Refrigerators are moist, so right away, they would be ruled out.

It looks like yes you can somewhat extend the shelf life of batteries by keeping them cool. The effect works best on rechargeable batteries. The self discharge rate is slowed at lower temperatures. But on the other-hand, the batteries should be brought back to room temp before using. I would say that it is only worth while if you are dealing with a very hot environment.

—–

Has anyone actually proven that myth? I mean a battery is a battery. You see all these commercials about cars batteries being the hardest to start in the winter. So, why would want to put batteries in a cold, damp environment on purpose?

Certificate programs?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

I want to be a writer in the near future, and I already know how to write appropriately but I have never taken a single college course in my life. My question is: Do certificate programs hold any value at all when it comes to future opportunities in the field of professional writing?

Certificate programs can be very valuable depending on what you are planning to use them for. Although you may think you are a master at writing, I can assure you that there is nothing better than furthering your knowledge through life. Writer’s workshops could be a good alternative if you have no interest in attending school for a degree. The other unfortunate fact is that most companies are not going to want to hire you unless you have a degree.

———

In the world of professional writing (as in any art), all that truly matters is your talent. Nobody cares where or when you studied as long as you produce quality work. The arts are among the few professions that still work almost entirely on the ability of the artist. Writing is an art.

That said, further education can improve your ability as a writer. So, yes, certificate programs do have some value. But, only to the extent that they improve your writing. A trip around the world has the same value if it improves your writing

What are some ideas beyond the traditional sausages and steak on the bbq?

Saturday, December 15th, 2007
  1. There’s nothing better than breakfast bbq style Kochie!
I love a couple of fried eggs, mushrooms and bacon straight from the grill.

Corn is another great one for the bbq, so is asparagus - soaked in butter and wrapped in tinfoil.

  2. Marinated skinless chicken pieces are great cooked on the barbie, with slices of sweet potato and white potato cooked on the side. Also pork and lamb chops. For dessert I cut a piece out of a banana and place grated chocolate in the hole, then wrap in foil and put onto the barbecue. When it is cooking the choc melts and goes through the banana. Delicious with ice-cream.
  3. My family many years ago got sick of having the “traditional” xmas lunch so now we BBQ seafood like prawns ect and even Bbq corn is great but fresh corn is the way to go.
In my family the men are no good at BBq’s since we have a all girl family and our partners are no good so we had no choice to excel in everything with practice
  4. Marinated chicken wings & breasts(slice breast lengthways to facilitate cooking) chicken, beef or pork skewers, marinated lamb chops. We cooked our whole Christmas lunch on the BBQ at my daughters in Canberra one year. Turkey, chickens & pork, along with roast vegies etc.The green vegies were done in an ordinary pot on the BBQ as well.
I live with my daughter & her family as of last year, so the only rule as regards the BBQ is that my son-in-law does the BBQ, we do the side dishes. Dan has 3 BBQ’s! He won’t part with any.
  5. #1 - For me, and I know this is a stigma for some, but SHRIMPS (lol prawns thank you) taste amazing on the barbie- especially loaded up with a puree of olive oil, chilli, garlic and lemon juice, I skewer them and peel the skin but leave the tails on for presentation.

#2 - Breakfast on the barbie- perfect holiday hangover cure. Cut some capsicums into 1 inch rings. Place on the barbie and crack an egg into the center of each. Some ultra thin strips of streaky bacon, and some thick slices of turkish brushed with olive oil , salt and rosemary on the grill side. Served with bbq sauce!

#3 Portuguese flattened chicken - brine the chix overnight in salt water. Then before you marinade, pour a kettle of hot water over. Pierce the skin with a prong. Marinade in red pepper pesto, garlic, chilli and lemon. Grill that on low heat until cooked.

  6. Minted Lamb Kebabs
  7. yes a breakfast is nice but i think some good marinated steak, snags and some ginger onions are great cooked up also with some bbqed vegitables . At our house when we have a bbq gathering the cooking and the bbq is left up to the men to handle whilst the girls stay inside and prepare the salads, drinks etc wilst of course gas bagging!
  8. PANCAKES ARE GREAT FOR A SNACK, EVERYONE LOVES THEM… OR I LOVE MUSHROOMS, ZUCCHINI, ONION,CAPSICUM AND POTATO ALL SLICED AND MIXED TOGETHER ON THE BBQ. YUMMO!
  9. Morning All,

My favourite is chicken breast fillets cubed and marinated in lime juice, white wine, garlic (fresh), good olive oil and cracked black pepper, marinate this for as long as possible. The taste is fresh and bitey and is always a winner at our barbies.

I hope that you all and your families have a really happy and safe Christmas and New Year. And I thank you for letting me be a part of your family.

    Love,

  10. Steak needs to only be turned once or twice to keep it tender. Men however grab a couple of beer with the mates, get talking & need to look busy & make it look like they know how to cook, so they stand there & turn it all the time, making it tough. Snags are a major part of the BBQ because it takes the attention of the steak as they get to turn the snags all the time instead. If you have snags as a part of the BBQ your steaks will instantly be better. And they tastes great too.
  11. I’d say nothing beats a Beer Can chicken with roasted corn. No recipe easier, just do a quick search, and so yummy. Highly recommended and everyone I’ve served it to always wants more!
  12. i love to use the smoking method with my bbq , I often make a pork roast on the bbq for christmas or anytime. and i think for seafood its the only way to go. that smokey flavor cant be beat
  13. Marinate Chicken with Honey Soy, Cut the chicken into little pieces, then put them on a skewer and bbq them. Works a Treat and is a nice quick snack before the main meal!
  14. Whatever is cooked by SOMEONE ELSE , is TERRIFIC on the barbie, Kochie !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!…
  15. prawns marinated in sweet chilli sauce garlic and ginger. yum. yu.
  16. I suggest you use the Wok burner it makes everything delicious.
I don’t even have a wok burner I just thought it would it would be funny to annoy you.
  17. im only 32 and as stale as this reply !!i grew up with the wood fire bbq but nothing beats a bit of kransky fried and banana wrapped in bacon yum sweet and savoury all in one
  18. We like to cook various things on the BBQ. I make kebabs with marinated chicken or lamb, capsicum, pineapple pieces, mushrooms and cherry or grape tomatoes. They cook quickly and I fine that kids love them as well as adults.

Fish fillets, marinated cray fish and bone less chicken fillets also go really well on the BBQ.

  19. *prawn & chicken kebabs.
*tomatoes stuffed with onion and mushrooms.
    *special fried rice.
    *vegetarian kebabs.
    *lemon pepper fish.
  20. NZ greenlip mussels done on the bbq in a roasting dish. Steamed open using some white wine, then topped with a mixture of butter with garlic and parsley.

    Absolutely devine!

  21. We just discovered the best thing ever…Porterican chicken! dont wanna give a free plug but leanards chicken make them, i wack them in foil bakeing trays with the bbq hood down they are divine
    sorry bout the spelling
  22. Pineapple rings. Mmmmm
  23. Shrimps are better when it’s cooked in Australia :)
  24. Nothing better than a leg of lamb, boned and butterflied and slowly cooked on the barbie with the hood down.
  25. I like a good piece of tasty fish, seasoned and wrapped up and left to marinate/steam on the bbq. I take 2 nice big pieces of tassie salmon, lay each on a piece of oiled alfoil. I then dress with a mixture of soy sauce, sweet chilli sauce, a tsp of garlic and salt and pepper to taste. You then wrap each piece up. You can then either put them in a steamer and cooked it that way, or you can throw it on the bbq to cook, usually for about 20 min. It’s delicious!
  26. pork ribs are great on the bbq but do make a bit of a mess. also zuchinis and/or mushrooms are great sliced and barbecued with oil and garlic. and last but not least, hot chips are really good on the wok burner
  27. Some green prawns with fountain chilli sauce over the top off them till they cook though within the sauce…
  28. Hi Kochie,
I use the wok burner on my BBQ or anyone else’s for that matter, to cook my Garlic Prawns.
I also cook fried rice in the wok, and then stuff a Blue Bone Groper or Pink snapper with it and cook that in foil on the BBQ. yum yum!!
  29. We all gather at my mums house for Christmas breakfast which I always cook since I was about 12 (I’m now 29). I make up a huge batch of pancakes cooked on the BBQ as it is heaps quicker and serve them with yummy maple syrup, jam and cream and lemon and sugar!
    ***Merry Christmas Everyone***
  30. My dad is the bbq king and he cooks, baby octopus (marinated in balsamic vinegar, parsley and sweet & sour sauce) garlic prawns, chicken & lamb souvlakia from a greek butcher, pineapple, onions, fillet steak, pork chops, polenta, whole tomatoes, chestnuts.
