My Children Love to Play Outside

Friday, February 29th, 2008

My children love to play outside and during the summer they are either playing in the pool, or sandbox. Well now with the creation of the Frame It All system, sandboxes will never be built the same. Now you can say goodbye to wasted hours measuring lumber, aligning seams and cutting angles. The ugly green plastic containers are gone for good. The patented Anchor and Stacking joints are made of durable, high impact plastic in a color that blends in with your landscape. Because the joints can swivel a full 270 degrees, they offer design options that simply were not available before. An 11.5 inch serrated stake extends from the bottom of the anchor joint and is hammered into the ground. It will stay secure even when the land shifts due to frost. Creating higher walls for the sandbox or playground borders is a cinch as you can add stacking joints through a specially designed connecting hole in the top of the Anchor Joint.

The system works equally well for landscape edging. The composite timbers are made from a blend of wood, fiber, and UV protected polypropylene. This results in material that is attractive with a natural looking texture and color, and is all-season durable as well.

Self Retracting Lifeline

Friday, February 29th, 2008

A Retractable Lanyard may well be your most important piece of safety equipment if you work from a height. Each year, thousands of deaths occur from falls that could have been prevented had they been wearing a proper safety harness. The Rebel Self Retracting Lifeline makes for an affordable solution. With 20 feet of 1” polyester webbing lifeline and nylon shock absorber, it is also one of the safest. The rugged aluminum housing and stainless steel working components can withstand repeated use, yet weigh only 5.1 lbs. The unique thin webbing enables a compact size that is only 5.5 inches in diameter by 2 inches deep, and incorporates a smooth case with rounded corners.

The 30 foot cable from Protecta is a steel cable self retracting lifeline. Weighing less than 10 pounds, it comes with a 3/16” galvanized cable and zinc coated internal components housed in shock resistant thermoplastic casing. The device begins fall arrest within 2’ and has a red end-of-travel indicator. This Safety Lanyard works both horizontally and vertically. For years workers have trusted these harnesses to protect them from falls. Now you too can own one of these lifesaving devices at an affordable price.

Hazing and Greek Organizations

Friday, February 29th, 2008

You may have heard of some Greek organizations in the news for hazing new members. And, while hazing once was very popular it is no longer the case. That is because sororities and fraternities like Alpha Kappa Alpha are adhering to strict guidelines set forth by their universities in regards to hazing.
Hazing is considered as any act or action that may potentially harm a person emotionally, physically, psychologically, or anything of this nature. This does not matter whether the individual is becoming part of the Greek organization or not. Hazing is a serious infraction of many university regulations and any Greek organization not abiding by these rules will be reprimanded.
This is good news for all the new recruits who are interested in joining Zeta Tau Alpha. Or, those who want to pledge Alpha Xi Delta. Nobody wants to be hazed but many students accept it simply because they want to be part of the Greek organization.
The reason hazing has practically been outlawed is because many student deaths and illnesses occurred that were highlighted in the news. Action has been taken against those organizations and now hazing is severely limited if it occurs at all.

Call Center Analytics

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

If you run a business, you know that reacting quickly to customer concerns is critical. It would be nice if you could listen to every customer support call, but unfortunately that just isn’t possible. With a quality speech analytics program such as CallMiner, you can get a much better understanding of why customers are calling, what they are saying, and how your support representatives respond.

Less advanced call center analytics software using basic speech recognition algorithms can only pick up a few of the words and phrases that are said during the calls. But CallMiner captures and processes complete call content, not just words, to tell you what customers and agents meant by what they said. And, best of all, it does this with all of the calls that come in, not just the 1% you might be able to get through using manual call monitoring, or even the 10% that some speech analytics solutions claim to capture. CallMiner does this by mapping call information into language patterns that are based on dozens of indicators such as customer satisfaction, agent politeness, acoustic stress, and call tempo. It’s not unusual for CallMiner’s call center monitoring to uncover patterns that are quite unexpected, which can alert you to issues you might never know about otherwise.

Flyer Printing

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Flyer printing is an inexpensive way to promote your business, and there are a few simple steps you can follow to be sure that your flyer advertising campaign is a success. Instead of using your business name as your headline, consider what specific needs your potential clients have. You want to give your viewers a reason to read the entire flyer, so showcase how your service will be beneficial to them. With this type of hook, you stand the best chance of catching people’s eyes. Including a picture, even a picture of yourself, can go a long way. People like to connect visually with others, and color photos are ideal for this.

Authentic customer testimonials are also very important. People like to see that your product or service has helped others in the past, and that you have a good reputation. After flyers printing you can even include a tagline such as ‘Visit my website for additional testimonials and contact information’. This call to action is an important step towards building the initiative to act. Finally you do not want to close with a passive statement such as ‘For more information, call …’ Instead you want to make an offer to motivate action and close the deal. Phrases like ‘Order before Monday are receive 20% off’ are proven to have much more success.

Philosophers: How do you resolve the problem of evil?

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008
  • Simple; “evil” (like “good”) does not exist in any real form, and is merely a concept that has been invented to describe actions that harm us.

In reality, everyones actions are justifiable as everyone acts for the best interests of something. In this way, no-one truly thinks that what THEY do is evil, unless they have feelings of guilt from a morality that has been imposed on them.

  • What is Evil? define evil? What is considered evil to one would be considered normal to another. For good to prevail evil has to be defined so as it is impossible to define evil then your question has no solution

  • In my opinion you can’t resolve the problem of evil, humanity is made with a natural balance and where there is good, there will always be evil.

  • is a concept of a ruling class.
Without evil, good cannot exist. That is like Tao.
Actually , one can negate evil. without the good, the bad cannot exist.
    A harmony of balance.
I choose to stay in the middle of the extremes.

  • hmmm! Evil is as Evil Does. Do no Evil See no Evil Hear no Evil Think no Evil then it Does and never can exist. If Evil did exist before then it will diminish if given no heed, no fuel and it will close in on itself like the black hole it is. The black hole space and time everlasting existing only if given the cause for existence. Good however cannont then be given any measure and the abundance of good should then prevail having no measure what so ever?

  • Evil is an essential part of creation. But for the evil, no good can thrive. It is the evil which glorify the good. The world is created based on duality. Creation can be sustained only when there is duality like male and female, heat and cold, joy and sorrow, good and bad, poverty and affluence. For instance, if there is only one colour, say ‘white’, how any art form can thrive. Everything will be white only. The ups and downs of the life sustain us. If we are immersed in luxury for ever, we will commit suicide. The summer heat drives you to AC rooms and ice cream parlour. The snow fall drives you to the rooms where room heaters are installed. The hills are beauty because of the valley. The lake is beautiful because of the landscape. God has created varieties in every little creation. Hence we are able to live in this world. Hence they are very very essential for our life. Only thing is we should NOT harbour evil in our own selves. Sairam.
